Pastor Gus Lopez moved to Dawson, ND, in 2010. Later, he moved to Jamestown. During his time in Jamestown, ND, and in 2016 he married his lovely wife, Esparanza. They have 11 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.
Pastor Gus Lopez lived on the streets in Arizona. He lived the gangster life, and after serving 24 years behind bars he wanted out of that life and decided to move to ND for a Job. While working at the car wash, where he met the Pastor of Primera Iglesia del Nazareno Church. He also met a few members of the J1Naz Church family. He was invited to church, and this led him to attend J1Naz Church in Jamestown, ND. He was loved and accepted there, and soon he surrendered his life to Christ. He became a new man, with a new mission, to see people connect with Jesus like he did. He knew Jesus could deliver people out of bondage and set them free. The Pastors of J1Naz mentored Gus this journey led him to help with community outreach and lead children’s ministry on Sundays.
Gus attended bible college and started Ministerial classes and was ordained on August 7, 2024. Once ordained, he was asked to pastor the new church plant of Our Hope Church of the Nazarene in Minneapolis, MN. Two years ago, he moved to North Minneapolis to bring Jesus to the streets of this urban Minneapolis neighborhood. He not only has started a new church but is sharing good deeds and sharing the good news of Jesus. Feeding the homeless and marginalized, clothing them, providing transportation, and household goods.
Pastor Gus is living out what Jesus said in the bible, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)
The needs are great in North Minneapolis, and we appreciate the financial help gifts, which can be given on the link on this page.
